Project WILD

I attended a Project WILD workshop today. It was FANTASTIC. The program is amazing. The book is wonderful. And the program is totally hands on. Best of all, it was free (if you are in FL) and they are VERY receptive to "non-traditional" educators.

Project WILD is one of the most widely-used conservation and environmental education programs among educators of students in kindergarten through high school. It is based on the premise that young people and educators have a vital interest in learning about our natural world. A national network of State Wildlife Agency Sponsors ensures that Project WILD is available nationwide --training educators in the many facets of the program. Emphasizing wildlife because of its intrinsic value, Project WILD addresses the need for human beings to develop as responsible citizens of our planet.

Each lesson is very detailed with supplies, background information, resources, activities, everything you need to know is there, all in one place. The appendices are wonderful if you want to find an activity on a certain topic

The catch is (there is always a catch isn't there!) that you have to attend the workshop to get the materials. It was really a lot of fun (even if it was a long drive!) and was great to see some of the activities put into practice first hand.
